Vernacare awarded Investors in People accreditation

Vernacare has been awarded the Investors in People accreditation across four of its sites in the UK. Having held Investors in People status at the Bolton and Chorley facilities since 2013 and 2022 respectively.
Following vast business growth after the acquisition of the Worksop and Blackwood manufacturing sites in 2020 and 2021, Vernacare have been working hard to ensure that all facilities meet the standards expected to achieve Investors in People accreditation.
This accreditation assesses 9 key areas which encompasses commitment to people, approach to leadership, supporting colleagues and the approach to continuous improvement in the organisation.
Investors in people verify the evidence under each area supplied by the Human Resources team, by interviewing a cross-section of colleagues and ascertain their perspectives on several activities such as: performance management processes, communication from senior leadership, training, development opportunities and many more.
The site visits to Chorley, Worksop and Blackwood confirmed the successful achievement of the Investors in People accreditation. Karen Pilkington, Head of Human Resources said “I am delighted that we have successfully achieved the Investors in People accreditation, demonstrating the value we put on our people and our commitment to ensuring Vernacare is a great place to work.”
On the 12th March Simon Howarth from Investors in People visited Chorley to present the plaque to Karen Pilkington, Head of HR, Nicola Boulton, CFO and Alex Hodges, CEO. Working closely with Simon over the next 3 years Vernacare will continue to improve the working environment for colleagues, and look for ways to develop strategies for people management throughout the organisation.
Simon added “It has been a pleasure to work with an organisation where the commitment to improving the workplace culture, specifically in areas around employee engagement, communication, organisational culture and work practices is so clearly supported from the very top and because of which, the culture will only improve over time.”
Alex Hodges added “I would like to thank our Human Resources team for the continued hard work they have all put in to move us towards the accreditation, and their focus on embedding our people first outlook throughout the organisation.
Having spent time revising our company mission, vision and values with our people at the heart of everything we do, our CARE values encompass Customer First, accountability, recognition and our environmental and social wellbeing, and this award is a huge recognition of the work that goes into underpinning our values with tangible actions.”
