The old equipment that your new purchase replaces is referred to as Historic WEEE.
Under the UK WEEE Regulations, Vernacare is also required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from Vernacare after August 2005, when that new equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.
Vernacare was required to provide these arrangements starting from the 1st July 2007.
Want to learn more about our sustainability initiatives?
We believe in being transparent with you regarding the environmental costs associated with WEEE. Our approach to sharing these environmental costs is as follows:
Vernacare has established a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the EARN facility in the UK. All New WEEE that arises from the purchase of Vernacare products is classed as non-hazardous waste and does not contain Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) to class it as hazardous WEEE. As the waste holder, it is your responsibility to confirm that the waste Vernacare equipment has not become hazardous during the product use. For example, if the equipment has become contaminated during use, please follow the recommended decontamination procedure.
It is your responsibility to arrange and pay for costs of collection and transportation to the recycler.
