Vernacare, a global UK healthcare manufacturer, has been recognised at the Make UK North West Regional Dinner and Manufacturing Awards, taking home the Runner Up prize in the 'Energy And Sustainability' category.
Taking place at Crow Wood Hotel and Spa in Burnley this October, the Make UK Regional Awards celebrate the best of manufacturing across all regions of the UK, recognising businesses and individuals talents in the industry across areas such as Sustainability, Business Growth, Process Improvements, and specific apprentice awards.
Vernacare's commitment to sustainability has shone through their work over the last few years, with a number of energy-efficiency projects including brand new machinery with the launch of their new 5 & 7 Litre Sharpsafe® containers and also moving over £4.2m production back to the UK from China.
Their award submission was particularly noted for their collaboration with academics and the wider industry to share knowledge, including their recent undertaking of a Knowledge Transfer Project with the Henry Royce Institute at the University of Manchester.
Ben Winterbottom, Group ESG & Sustainability Manager who collected the award, said, "We were proud to accept the award at the Make UK North West Manufacturing Awards, and we were delighted to hear that our sustainability efforts and submission resonated with the judges. As a manufacturing industry, we have an important role in reducing carbon emissions and we are excited about the journey ahead of us and we're proud to making substantial progress at Vernacare”
"Getting together with our manufacturing colleagues from across the North West was a great evening, and we'd like to express our congratulations to all fellow winners too."
